HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF ROOKIE SEO

  1. Select the Plan that is right for you

The biggest difference between our plans is the amount of times you can use it. If you are a small business owner that only plans on writing enough content to feel like your site is active, our basic plan is probably sufficient. If you are a blogger or freelancer who is writing all the time, you may want to jump to PRO.

Even if you don’t plan on writing tons of content, one of the biggest benefits of upgrading from BASIC to PREMIUM (our 2nd option), is the FREE SEO CONSULTATION. This is a great resource to discuss ideas, tips to help your articles rank, or, as will be mentioned in the next point, do keyword research, and you can get that coaching every month!

  1. Do keyword research BEFOREHAND

The one thing that our tool doesn’t tell you (yet) is the search volume and difficulty of the keyword that you enter. That is why we suggest you do keyword research beforehand so you are only entering topics that not only have a chance of ranking, but that people are searching for.

We are working on adding this feature to make it easier on you in the future, but for now,

  1. Review the data, not just our recommendations.

The recommendations our tool provides are based on the data the report provides. Our total word count recommendation is based on the total word count of the top ranking articles, but sometimes, one page may skew the data one way or the other.

The report may also give you insight into the keyword you chose. If that keyword isn’t an exact match in the TITLE and URL of the pages that currently rank, that can help you decide if you want to adjust your keyword to match, or if by choosing a keyword variant, you are more likely to rank.

Additionally, our image count process isn’t perfect. It can capture images that aren’t part of the article itself, but instead related to other content on the site. If you see an outlier (high or low) of image count, we suggest clicking on the URL provided and reviewing

  1. Look for TYPES of content listed

Another key component of reviewing the data is the types of articles that are listed in the results. This can help you understand what type of content Google is prioritizing. For example, maybe the majority of the articles are “list-based”, like “8 reasons to work out in the morning”, while a different keyword shows articles that mainly turn the keyword into a question “Why should you work out in the morning? We have the answers here”.

  1. Don’t try to be exact

The only people that know the exact algorithm to rank on the top of Google, is Google (and maybe not even them). We are providing advice, and insight to what currently works, but there are lots of other factors in play, and following our recommendations to a T aren’t going to guarantee results. The most important factor is that whatever you write is accurate, informative and not jumbled together to hit a minimum word count.

  1. Use the AI Article as a Guide, not a cure-all

Our AI article will do its best to match the recommendations provided, but that doesn’t mean it will be perfect every time, or written the way you want it to be. Often, the best use of the AI generated article is to be a guide to help you write your own content. You can copy and paste, or expand on paragraphs that don’t go into enough detail. Use it to help you write the article YOU want.

  1. Provide Feedback with ways to Improve the Tool

We’ve designed this tool to make SEO feel less intimidating, and that posting quality content doesn’t have to be scary. We also understand that we aren’t perfect. If you have ideas on how the tool could be more useful for you, please let us know! We want to hear everything you like and dislike about RookieSEO so we can keep improving it, and making it something you want to keep using. You can send any feedback or suggestions to [email protected]
